Honey Wine Hat - Knitting Pattern

The cables used for this are widely spaced apart and allow the hat to stretch almost as much as it would if the pattern were a wide ribbing. This means that one finished size will fit a wide range of head sizes. Changing to the larger needle (optional) after the first 12 rnds lets the hat easily stretch to fit a mens 23” head circumference. For a tighter hat, or smaller heads, continue knitting with the smaller needles.

Needles

• US 6 (4mm) 16” circular needles & DPNs, or size to obtain gauge

• US 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular needles & DPNs, or size to obtain gauge (optional, see pattern notes)

Gauge:

28 sts and 17 rnds (one pattern repeat) = 4.5” wide x 2.25” long, relaxed on smaller needles.

28 sts and 17 rnds (one pattern repeat) = 4.75” wide x 2.5” long, relaxed on larger needles.

Finished Size: 18” finished head circumference x 7.5 (8)” length; hat is meant to be worn with 2-3” of negative ease.
